Those Sacred Places

Go seek those places which have been made sacred by the gathering of the people of times gone by.

Those places of feasts that look out across rock ledge and bush to oceans beyond.

Those clearings of ceremony, of smoke and fire, dancing and singing.

Places of burial where loved ones are returned to the earth whence they came.

Look closely at the land and sea, cause we see not what our ancestors saw.

Listen carefully, cause we hear not what they heard.

Breath deep the aromas for we smell not what they smelt.

They moved across and with the land as one

While my ancestors stepped upon the land with ignorance and a will to conquer.
