I’m Tired
I’m tired of the working days,
The ambiguous haze,
The urgent requests
To do better than our best.
Always too much on the plate,
Forever working late.
It’s been a long time on the treadmill;
Losing drive, losing will.
No more do I want to take it “off-line”
Play the game and toe the line.
Or be told to think outside the nine dots,
While working with leopards who can’t change their spots.
I’ve become cynical in my old age.
I haven’t the inclination to maintain the rage.
I don’t care if its rude
I’m tired of your brainless platitudes.
I just want to be left to do my best work,
And to congregate with geniuses, rather than hang-out jerks.
